For the last few years, there have been conflicting messages coming from FRS on the availability of the GoldMine API document. In a welcome policy change, FrontRange has done the right thing and decided to provide GoldMine’s API documentation for partners and customers for FREE. This news from John Stillman, lead GoldMine developer and tireless GoldMine programming community supporter.

From the message:

There’s no cost to get the API document. If you can prove that you are a current FRS customer or partner, then you can get the API document for free.

This is a reversal from what I was told previously, where there was a fee involved with getting the API doc. This news makes me very happy, and I thank Greg and Jamal for making this decision.

That said, Starting with 7.0, you cannot legally sell anything that you make with the GM APIs without becoming a member of the TPP, which at this time is by invitation only from FRS and being revamped.

If you create an application in house, that’s fine. If you create a one-off application for a client – that’s fine. If you write an open source application, that’s fine. If you write a freeware application using the APIs that’s fine.

If you sell an application that uses the API without being a FRS partner, then you are breaking the EULA.

  1. So…

I can prove that I’m a legit GM customer – but what is the procedure for securing the API documentation?
